Top 11 Women In Marketing You Should Absolutely Follow And Learn From

Has it already been 113 years? Gosh.

The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911 in just a few European countries. In 2024, it has gone global.

As THE online marketing magazine, we want to just take a step back from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and just appreciate the great work of the top women in marketing.

But before we discuss the amazing work of the women in marketing leadership on our list, let’s first discuss the importance of discussing this topic more often.

Why do we need to be more aware of and talk more about women in marketing leadership?

Marketing has the stereotype of being a female-dominated field.

And having completed a few stints in marketing agencies and speaking to friends, I can see where this stereotype came from.

Despite this, the field of marketing in its entirety is pretty much still male-dominated when it comes to leadership.

Just take a look at the number of women in senior management roles. Just look at the number of women in stereotypically more ‘masculine’ industries like tech and finance.

Representation matters.

There’s strong evidence in psychology that shows how positive representation can help improve the self-esteem of people (particularly youths) from groups that have traditionally not been portrayed positively.

Having more positive and visible representations of women in marketing leadership can give young girls and women good role models to inspire them to strive for greater heights.

Additionally, Shermin led RICS's first hybrid event and their first-ever overseas conference in India, where she managed diverse cultural and logistical challenges single-handedly.

As part of a dynamic two-women team, she orchestrated an event attended by 500 digital marketing professionals from around the globe, including participants from countries like Serbia and Romania. The event attracted 18 of the top speakers in the SEO industry, making Ahrefs Evolve a landmark event for digital marketing in Asia.

Let’s celebrate all women in marketing!

We have made huge strides in female representation in marketing leadership and that, in and of itself, is worth celebrating.

However, we aren't quite there yet.

Many negative stereotypes of women marketing leaders still exist. While I don’t think it’s possible to eliminate these stereotypes 100%, there is always more to be done when it comes to combating such prejudices.

Representation should never be the final goal; instead, it should be a means to the end that is equity.

Happy International Women’s Day!
